Why a feminist guide?

Whilst menopause is only experienced by women, its research and treatments have been dictated by men and the male dominated scientific and medical sectors for hundreds of years. Whilst neuro-sexism and bikini medicine are approaches of the past, they sadly still influence women’s health today, and too often reduce our wellbeing to our breast and ovaries or our menopause symptoms to our ‘over emotional female tendencies’.

Too many women have been told a good sleep or more water will have them feeling better during one the most scientifically and medically complex seasons of their lives.

Vast and even life threatening gender inequities continue to exist in women’s health. Becoming informed about our health, our menopause and the science behind it, as well as the realm of ways in which we can decrease negative symptoms, is a way to reclaim power over our bodies and our gender.

I could have written a feminine guide but you already have infinite innate feminine wisdom and know yourself better than I do. I hope that The Feminist Guide to Menopause offers you both a magical menopause full of ease and grace. I also hope that it provides your with a sense that by purchasing this Guide, you’re also closing the gap on gender health inequities and upleveling women’s health overall.
